Sign an on-line petition Despite newspaper articles to the contrary, campsites of the homeless in Seattle continue to be systematically destroyed and personal effects discarded. Sign a petition to the City requesting that clearing activities cease, by logging on to www.homelessinfo.org and clicking on the link to Sign the Encampment Petition.
Sign up for the One Night Count of the Homeless This annual count by SKCCH will be from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. on the morning of Friday, January 25, 2008. Volunteers, who go out in teams of a minimum of four with an experienced leader, are especially needed for the Eastside communities and for South and North King County. To volunteer or for more information contact Alison Eisinger at Alison@homelessinfo.org.

Who We Are
PSJCH is composed of Jewish congregations, organizations, and individuals concerned about the problem of homelessness in the Puget Sound region of Western Washington.

We believe that the provision of adequate, safe housing for everyone is a matter of social justice -- "tzedek" as expressed in our Jewish tradition. In pursuit of justice, the Puget Sound Jewish Coalition on Homelessness takes responsibility for helping to bring about community-wide solutions to homelessness.

Goals

  • To educate the Jewish community about the issue of homelessness, its causes, and its effects in the Jewish community and the larger community. Education leads to action.
  • To expand the Jewish presence in the advocacy and volunteer communities working to end homelessness.
  • To encourage Jewish community groups and religious congregations to pursue efforts that meaningfully contribute to the end of homelessness.

I'd like to get a cool graphic that communicates our commitment to ending homelessness and that reflects our Jewish traditions. Do we have any artists in this community who can help with that?
